Fourth of July Fireworks Sparkle in the Sky
by KYW's Mike Dougherty
It was a perfect evening for fireworks as thousands at Penn's Landing were treated to the second of three displays for this year's Welcome America Celebration. Tune in to KYW Newsradio this evening to listen to the musical sound track for the fireworks display on the Parkway.
The night started with a wonderful performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra:
"It was great, we really loved the music. A little bit too crowed and not enough seating, but it was really enjoyable music."
Once darkness flushed out the sunlight, the main attraction got underway:
"I think they're fabulous -- some of the best fireworks I've ever seen. Just more impressive, you know the colors and the movement and everything."
"Beautiful, beautiful sight. A lot of nice variety."
But this was just the opening act. On Sunday on the Ben Franklin Parkway is the grand finale to with performances by the Roots and Goo Goo Dolls followed by the last fireworks show of the weekend.
