Four-Month Shutdown of a Montco SEPTA Bridge Set To Begin Monday

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Beginning Monday, some riders on the Norristown High Speed Line will be forced to use shuttle buses.
And that could add time to the daily commute.
Septa is closing the Bridgeport Viaduct, which is the bridge carrying the Norristown High Speed Line over the Schuylkill River between Norristown and Bridgeport.
Septa spokeswoman Heather Redfern says that over the next four months, crews will be completing a track-and-timber replacement project on the span, which was built in 1911 (see previous story).
"Service on the Norristown High Speed Line will be impacted between Norristown Transportation Center and Bridgeport station, which are the last two stations along the Norristown High Speed Line, and we'll be providing shuttle buses to our passengers," she explains.
She says 2,400 riders will be affected daily by the $7½-million project, which is expected to last through November.
