Four Candidates Vie For Democratic Nomination In Pa. Governor's Race

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - At the top of the ticket today, Democratic voters in Pennsylvania will find four candidates vying to be the party's nominee for governor.
York County businessman and former Rendell Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf jumped out in front of the pack after airing ads during the winter introducing himself to Democratic voters, and he has maintained his lead in opinion polls.
Franklin and Marshall College pollster Terry Madonna says, "It was not-arguably one of the most successful introductions of a candidate in modern history."
Madonna says Wolf was not only the beneficiary of well-made ads paid for with millions of his own dollars, but also a field of candidates who largely agree on major issues, "Meaning that the average voters of the state simply can't tell how different these candidates are."
Still, in what was once a field of eight Democratic candidates are state Treasurer Rob McCord, former Rendell environmental Secretary Katie McGinty, and Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz.
In the Republican gubernatorial primary, incumbent Tom Corbett's only challenger, Bob Guzzardi, was bounced by a court order, but that order came so late there will be a handful of counties where Guzzardi's name is still on the ballot.
