Former South Jersey Woman Commissions Billboard To Boost Camden, NJ's Image

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- The City of Camden, NJ has been a city of hard knocks for decades, but it's not without its fans.
Now one Camden fan, as a labor of love, is paying for a billboard to help boost the city's image.
As you travel west on Admiral Wilson Boulevard, you can spot a billboard near the Federal Street overpass that reads, "Say something nice about Camden."
It's the work of Jennifer Barton, now a New York public relations agent but still a self-described "Jersey girl" from Moorestown who went to the University of Pennsylvania and then interned in Camden City Hall.
"I grew up just loving cities and being intrigued by them," she tells KYW Newsradio. "I always thought, going back fifteen years when I was there in Camden, that people would benefit just taking a moment and pausing, and saying something about what's happening there."
The billboard is currently scheduled to come down in early January, but through the web site saysomethingniceaboutcamden.com she hopes to attract support, maybe financial, to extend or expand the campaign.
