Former PR Director For Phillies Pens Book About His 5 Decades Working For The Team
By Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Phillies PR director Larry Shenk has been busy writing a book about his five decades working for the team.
Larry Shenk hit the ground running when he arrived at Connie Mack Stadium ahead of the 1964 season. For the ex-newspaper reporter it was a dream job for a dream team, at least until the last two weeks of September.
"We're in first place and we start making plans for the World Series and before you knew it, it was over. I don't remember too much about it because we were so busy making World Series plans and then the next thing you know the season's over."
Over the decades, ownership changed hands several times, managers and players came and went, but Larry Shenk remained, collecting memories he now shares in his book, If These Walls Could Talk.
