Former Phillie Pat Burrell To Retire, Maybe Join San Francisco Giants Front Office?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When the name Pat Burrell is spoken, a lot of things come to mind. "Front office," was never one of them. At least not for me.
Pat Burrell is going to retire, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman confirmed today via Twitter, but it may not be the end of his baseball career. Charlie Manuel told Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on 94 WIP today, "he's a tremendous person, and I think he belongs in baseball. I heard that he might go to work for them in the front office, for the San Francisco Giants."
Burrell retires a lifetime .253 hitter, with 292 home runs and 976 RBI's in 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, nine with the Phillies. The lasting memory for Burrell in Philadelphia will no doubt be leading the World Series parade in 2008, his final season with the team.
