Former Philadelphia DA Lynne Abraham Won't Run For Penna. Attorney-General
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Former Philadelphia district attorney Lynne Abraham has decided not to jump into the race for Pennsylvania attorney general.
Abraham, like Ed Rendell, has enjoyed a high profile in both the City of Philadelphia and its vote-rich suburbs -- a situation that helped propel the former mayor to the governor's office.
But Eleanor Dezzi, Abraham's longtime political advisor, says a poll commissioned by Abraham in August showed the former DA doing well across the rest of the state as well.
"Lynne has spoken all around the state -– she has spoken in Erie and Pittsburgh," says Dezzi. "And of course some of the high-profile cases that she had here in Philadelphia were reported across the state, so Pennsylvanians had a really good feel for Lynne."
But nevertheless, Dezzi says, Abraham –- who is now ensconced in her new life with a law firm and enjoying herself -– has decided that the time is not right to jump into the race for attorney general.
Dezzi says Abraham is not ruling out a run for office in the future.
