Former Penn State President Spanier Seeks Records From AG
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Lawyers for former Penn State president Graham Spanier want a judge to force the state attorney general's office to release documents as he prepares for trial on charges he helped cover up complaints about Jerry Sandusky.
Spanier's lawyers filed a motion Friday for pretrial discovery that says they weren't able get the material from prosecutors, despite making several requests.
They also say Dauphin County Judge Todd Hoover has agreed to hold a hearing on issues related to Cynthia Baldwin, the school's then-chief lawyer who accompanied Spanier and two other administrators to grand jury appearances.
The attorney general's office says Spanier will be getting discovery materials this week.
Spanier faces charges of perjury, conspiracy, obstruction, failure to report suspected abuse and endangering the welfare of children. He has denied the allegations.
