Former New Jersey Minister Gets 10 Years For Sex Assault
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — A former minister already serving time for having sex with an underage girl has been sentenced to 10 more years for having sex with her sister.
Curtis Franklin made no statement during his sentencing Friday in state Superior Court in Hackensack.
The 48-year-old former assistant pastor at the Mahwah Full Gospel Church was convicted in April on three counts of sexual assault after less than four hours of jury deliberations. Last November he received an eight-year sentence after his conviction in a separate case.
Prosecutors alleged Franklin, a father of two daughters, had a sexual relationship with one of the girls when she was 12 and he was in his 30s, and with the other girl beginning when she was 15. The alleged incidents began in the late 1990s.
