Former Montgomery County Vice-Principal Sentenced For Sexting Teen Students
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A former vice principal at Pennbrook Middle School, in the North Penn School District in Montgomery County, is headed to state prison for at least 2½ years for having improper contact with two male students at the school.
Visiting Judge John Braxton told Charles Hurst he offended the weakest members of the community -- our youth -- and he has shaken the fiber of what we want our children to believe about their educators.
Judge Braxton sentenced Hurst, 37, to 2½-5 years behind bars followed by two years' probation.
"This crime, committed by this trusted individual in the community, it tore the community apart," said Montgomery County prosecutor Samantha Cauffman after the sentencing. "You saw that in the courtroom -- it was divided, those for him and those against him, and it's a really a shame. It's going to take a long time for this community to heal."

Hurst admitted sending sexually explicit text messages and having sexual conversations with the young teens (see related story). He also pleaded guilty to a cocaine possession charge.
Defense attorney Greg Nester calls it a "difficult day" for his client and says they are exploring the options available to them, which could include an appeal of the sentence or asking the judge to reconsider the sentence.
