Former Hammonton Marching Band Director Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Teen
HAMMONTON, NJ (CBS) -- Officials in New Jersey say a Hammonton man who was formerly employed as the high school's marching band director pled guilty today to the sexual assault of a 16 year-old student.
Jason Koenig, 27, was charged with sexually assaulting the student last spring.
The prosecutor's office alleges the sexual assaults happened in November and December of 2013, and a warrant was issued following a week long investigation into the marching band director.
On May 5, Koenig turned himself in to police. Today, he pled guilty to Sexual Assault and Official Misconduct.
Koenig faces up to five years in prison and must serve two years before being eligible for parole. He also forfeits all current and future public employment and is subject to Megan's Law registration and supervision for life.
Koenig was facing charges of Official Misconduct, a 2nd degree crime, Sexual Assault, a 2nd degree crime, Criminal Sexual Contact, a 4th degree crime, and Endangering the Welfare of Children, a 2nd degree crime.
