Former Governers Share Their 'Straightforward' View Of The Republican Race

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens were treated to a view of the Republican Presidential Race from both sides of the aisle Monday night as former PA Governor Ed Rendell and Former NJ Governor Christine Todd Whitman offered their perspectives on the race for the GOP nomination.
With the Pennsylvania primary just about two-weeks away, Whitman and Rendell sat down for what was billed as a straightforward discussion on the candidates.
"The Republicans have done everything they could since the time of the straw poll in Iowa last summer to today to screw this up for themselves. It's been a clown show," said Rendell.
Former Gov. Whitman offered a similar sentiment.
"I think the Republican performance has been, frankly at times, shameful and certainly embarrassing as a Republican. At least my kind of Republican has not been happy with what I've seen, and some of the topics of the debates when we have some serious issues out there that need to be to discussed."
Rendell added that he thinks Santorum should bow out of the race now, before taking a loss in his home state.
