Former Director Of Pa. High School Charged For Starting Student Riot
READING, Pa. (AP) — The fired former director of a now-shuttered eastern Pennsylvania school for troubled students has been charged with inciting a riot at the school in a bid to get his job back.
Andre Bean, former director of Delaware Valley High School in Reading, was charged Friday. He was allowed to remain free while his case proceeds.
Court documents say Bean and another fired staffer told students to act up in school so he and other former staffers would be brought back. A Sept. 21 melee at the school was quelled by Reading police.
The Reading School District has since canceled its contract with the school, and the company founder has sued Bean, alleging he and other staffers urged students to cause damage. Bean has called the claim "ridiculous," ''wild" and "defamatory."
