Former City Worker Gets Fine, Probation For DUI Crash in City-Owned Car

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A former Philadelphia City Council staffer has been sentenced for driving a city car while under the influence.
Robin Jones, 50, avoided jail time following her guilty plea in the wake of a car crash last September in which she rammed a city-owned car into a building at 13th and Hamilton Streets (see previous story).
Within a few days, Jones checked herself into an inpatient treatment facility. Investigators found she had both alcohol and cocaine in her system at the time of the crash.
Now Jones been ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and nearly $6,000 in restitution. Her license was also suspended for a year -- although it had already been suspended at the time of last September's crash.
On the night involved, Jones called a colleague for help. Rodney Williams arrived in another city-owned car, was arrested, and was later found to have a blood alcohol level of .218 -- nearly three times the legal limit.
When police asked if he'd been drinking, he answered, "It's Friday."
Both Jones and Williams were fired by the city following the incident (see related story).
