Former City Council Sergeant-At-Arms Convicted Of DUI In City-Owned Car

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A former Philadelphia City Council Sergeant-at-Arms has been convicted of DUI in a city vehicle, a crime he committed while coming to the aid of another allegedly impaired city employee, also in a city vehicle (see related story). Both were fired.
Prosecutor Elizabeth Kotchian says Rodney Williams' blood alcohol tested at 0.218 when he showed up to help in the very early morning hours one Saturday last September.
"He got out of his car, which was the city vehicle, he was staggering when he got out of the car, the Sergeant at the time on scene, who is now a Lieutenant, Lieutenant Rosario, thought he was going to fall over, fall on his face is what he said."
Kotchian says Sergeant Pedro Rosario asked Williams if he had been drinking, "and Mr. Williams response was, 'It's Friday.'"
Williams will be sentenced in April. The other former city employee, a secretary in the City Council President's office, allegedly crashed her city car while DUI. Her trial is scheduled for Wednesday.
