Foreign Policy Analyst On Nice Attack: The Small Stuff Wins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dr. Sebastian Gorka, the Major General Matthew C. Horner Distinguished Chair of Military Theory at Marine Corps University, talked with Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about last night's terrorist attack in Nice, France and the upcoming release of 28 pages redacted from the official 9/11 report.
Gorka believes what makes ISIS capable of carrying out so many successful acts of terrorism is that they think much smaller than other terror groups like Al-Qaeda do.
"Al-Qaeda really painted themselves into the corner. When you kill 3000 people in 102 minutes, what are you going to do next? 9/11 was so amazingly spectacular and horrific, that they became poster boys, but they lost the point that in irregular warfare the cheap stuff is what often wins. Look at what ISIS has been doing. Look at recent jihadi attacks since the caliphate was declared. Two attacks in Paris, an attack in San Bernardino, an attack in Brussels, Istanbul, Orlando, what is the key thing with all of these attacks? They're incredibly cheap. One guy, two guys with a gun and homemade explosives."
Regarding the 9/11 report, he thinks the information revealed will be close to what has been widely reported about the censored section of the report.
"My sense listening to the people, the politicians who have read it and have talked about it in the media is that there is not going to be a smoking gun that says the Saudi government was behind 9/11, but there's going to be lots of evidence, some of it circumstantial, some of it more solid, that Saudi officials were connected with and, in some way, assisting the 19 hijackers or members of the team. I think that's what we're going to find out."
