Ford Forces OT, Northeastern Defeats Drexel 63-58
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Quincy Ford forced overtime with a double-clutch 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in regulation and Northeastern defeated Drexel 63-58 in Colonial Athletic Association play Tuesday night.
The Huskies' Demetrius Pollard hit a free throw with 51 seconds left to make it 47-44, and after Drexel's Kazembe Abif missed a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left, Ford drained his trey to force extra play.
Northeastern (8-7, 3-0) scored the first four points of overtime, but Drexel pulled within 59-58 on Aquil Younger's layup with 6 seconds left. Joel Smith hit two free throws for Northeastern on the next possession, and then Abif turned the ball over to ensure the Huskies' win.
Ford finished with 14 points and Reggie Spencer scored 17 for Northeastern, which has won its first three CAA games for the second time, last in 2008-09.
Frantz Massenat led Drexel (5-10, 1-2) with 19 points, and Tavon Allen added 15.
