For A Few, The Perfect Temperature For Ice Skating With Flyers Hockey Players
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The bitter cold didn't prevent a few hardy souls from skating with the Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon at Dilworth Park.
It was 10 degrees F. out, but members of the Flyers ice hockey team hosted a lunchtime skate outside City Hall.
Flyers' legend Bob "The Hound" Kelly, who grew up in Ontario, knows how to handle the cold.
"This morning my sister said it was minus-33 with the wind chill factor up there," he noted. "So it's a little on the chilly side for up there. But it's what you grow up with. And as long as you're out here moving, you layer yourself up and you just go have fun."
And that's what Kathleen Peerless of Northern Liberties did, with her granddaughter, Allison.
"We had decided we were coming ice skating. So we're going ice skating."
No matter how cold it was.
