Football Equipment Stolen From Penn Wood High School

YEADON, Pa. (CBS) - A Delaware County high school football team will suit up tomorrow and play their first game of the season despite the work of thieves who stole some of their equipment earlier this week.
Yeadon police say it appears thieves ripped off padlocks and broke into a storage locker at Kerr Field Monday night stealing equipment belonging to the Penn Wood football team. While the investigation is moving forward, the school is working to use some credit to get new equipment shipped out. The Patriots have a game at 11am Friday.
Athletic Director Rap Curry hopes the players see this as a challenge they can overcome. He says it looks like someone needed equipment for another league.
"About 15 or so helmets, eight to ten shoulder pads, footballs, training equipment," Curry said. "You know, just like a lot of stuff that you kind of use in your program."
Also gone are some Gatorade coolers, football bags and a field generator.
The thefts come just four months after someone set fire to Penn Wood's Green Avenue building. There's still a $22,000 reward for information. Curry doesn't believe the two incidents are connected.
