Food Truck Review: No. 45
FARM TRUCK
Well, it sounded really good. The Farm Truck bills itself as a kind of do-gooder graffiti-laden post-visionary art gallery on wheels, working with local purveyors and selling "an eclectic mix of contemporary American fare with a gourmet twist." The kind of truck Bill Walton would like.
Hey, we wanted to like it too. We went to Burning Man once, way back in the day. So we ordered up a jerk chicken hoagie ($8), with cilantro, carrot, fried shallots and a lot of other things that spring from the ground. Mostly, it tasted like vinegar and salt. Waayyyy too much seasoning here.
We went healthy for a side dish, trying the grilled asparagus, with miso aioli and peanut sesame brittle ($4). The asparagus itself was fresh and smoky. But whatever New Age chef decided that veggies and peanut brittle are a good mix, well, we sure don't see eye to eye. This is an invention that never needed to happen.
