Flyers Wrap-Up Road Trip In Chicago
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Flyers six-game road trip comes to a close tonight with a big challenge as the Orange and Black visit the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.
So far the Flyers have gone 2-2-1 on this trip. They've picked up victories in Nashville and Detroit, lost in regulation in Minnesota and Dallas and then on Monday they lost in a shootout in Ottawa.
Overall, the Flyers are 13-14-3 this season. With 29 points, they are tied for sixth place in the eight-team Metropolitan Division.
The Blackhawks look like a strong favorite to once again hoist Lord Stanley's Cup. They have an NHL-high 49 points this season thanks to a 22-6-5 mark.
Flyers goalie Ray Emery was a key member of the Chicago team that won it all last season, going 17-1 in net. He will start for the Flyers tonight.
Captain Claude Giroux is pacing the Flyers with 20 points (5 goals,15 assists). Forward Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists).
This is the front end of back-to-back games for the Flyers. They will return home on Thursday night to host Montreal.
