Flyers With Critical Match-Up With Rangers
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers will try to make it two straight wins tonight as they host the New York Rangers at the Center.
The Orange and Black snapped a four-game losing streak in impressive fashion on Monday night as they hammered the Canadiens in Montreal 7-3. Scott Hartnell led the way in victory, netting a hat trick. This offensive explosion was desperately needed as the Flyers had scored just three goals, total, during that losing streak.
Even with that win, the Flyers still are seven points out of an Eastern Conference playoff slot with just six games left to play.
Now the team holding on to the 8th and final playoff spot at the moment is the New York Rangers. They have 46 points and they have won three of four heading into this one. They also have a red-hot goalie in Henrik Lundqvist who is 5-1-1 in his last seven games with a 1.53 GAA.
This will be fifth and final match-up between these two teams in the regular season. The Flyers have lost three of the first four.
