Flyers Visit Florida, Looking For Fourth Straight Win
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After sweeping a three game home stand, wrapping things up with that 5-2 win over the Islanders on Saturday, the Flyers will be on the road on Monday night, visiting the Florida Panthers.
The Flyers have won six of seven and since that 1-7 start, they have gone 9-3-2. With 22 points the Flyers are now sixth in the eight-team Metropolitan Division, but they are just eight points out of first.
Florida has really struggled. The Panthers are 6-13-5 and seventh in the Atlantic Division. This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season. The first came back on October 8th in South Philadelphia, the Flyers winning, 2-1. That was Craig Berube's first game as head coach after taking over for the fired Peter Laviolette. It was also the Flyers first win in four games to start the 2013-14 campaign.
Steve Mason is expected to get the start in net for the Flyers. He made 36 saves in Saturday's win over the Isles. This will be his 17th start this season. He has a 2.11 GAA and a .933 save percentage.
Matt Read will be looking to continue his hot play tonight. The Flyers forward has scored four goals in his last two games and he is now tied with Vincent Lecavalier for the team lead with eight.
