Flyers Visit Colorado Tonight, Looking For Tenth Straight Win
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers will look to keep the good times rolling tonight as they visit the Colorado Avalanche.
Philadelphia is riding a nine-game winning streak. The Flyers haven't won ten in a row since they had a 13-game winning streak during the 1985-86 season. Last time out on Sunday, the Flyers beat the Detroit Red Wings on the road, in overtime, 1-0.
This surge has moved the Flyers, with 39 points (18-10-3 record), to within two points of the Rangers and Penguins for first-place in the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers are currently tied for fourth in the division.
Colorado has just 23 points (11-15-1 record) and that is the lowest total in all of the NHL. However, the Avalanche are coming off a win last time out as they beat Toronto on the road Sunday, 3-1.
This will be the first of two match-ups between the two teams this season. They will also meet at the Center on February 28th.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Dave Isaac of the Courier Post about the winning streak for the Flyers and this match-up with the Avalanche.
