Flyers Unveil 50th Anniversary Jerseys
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Orange and Black have added another color to their jerseys for the team's golden anniversary season.
For their 50th anniversary season, the Flyers will wear special jerseys, with gold numbers and the team logo trimmed in gold. Flyers president Paul Holmgren says the team's late owner Ed Snider approved the design in December.
"When Mr. Snider saw the final edition, he couldn't have been happier and gave us his blessing to move forward," Holgren said.
Flyers captain Claude Giroux tried on the jersey at an unveiling at the One Liberty Observation Deck.
"It feels good," Giroux said. "We're pretty excited to be able to play with it. I think it's 12 games at home we'll be playing with them."
The fan reaction on Twitter hasn't been very positive.
Here are the 12 games where the Flyers will wear the 50th anniversary jerseys:
The anniversary uniform includes a patch on the right shoulder and "A Flyer Forever" tribute to Ed Snider on the players' helmets.
