Flyers Turn To Bobrovsky In Toronto

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – With Ilya Bryzgalov sidelined because of that chip fracture in his foot, Sergei Bobrovsky will get his first start in goal in two-and-a-half weeks tonight as the Flyers visit the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bobrovsky's last start came on March 11th, when he allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 4-1 loss on the road against New Jersey.  For the season, Bobrovsky is 12-9-1 with a 3.03 GAA.

The Flyers, who have already clinched a playoff berth, have 96 points on the season and currently sit in 5th place in the East.  They are four points behind the fourth-place Penguins and home ice in the first-round of the playoffs.

Toronto will not be headed to the playoffs.  With 77 points, they are in 4th place in the Southeast Division and tied for 13th in the Eastern Conference.  They also have been handled by the Flyers this season as Philadelphia is 3-0 against the Leafs.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with the Flyers beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sam Carchidi, about the match-up.
