Flyers To Select Seventh In 2015 NHL Draft
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers were awarded the seventh overall selection on Saturday night during the NHL Draft Lottery. The Flyers went into Saturday night with a 6.5% chance to receive the top overall pick.
The seventh selection is the highest the Flyers have had since 2007 when the team selected James van Riemsdyk with the second pick.
The Edmonton Oilers won the first overall selection as they jumped over the Buffalo Sabres who finished with the worst record in the NHL.
The Flyers will have two selections in the first round and ten overall for the 2015 draft. The team acquired the first round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Braydon Coburn deal.
Flyers legend and Hall of Famer Bill Barber was selected seventh overall by the Flyers in 1972. The team will hope that the number seven is lucky for them once again.
