Flyers Statue Open To The Public At Xfinity Live! In South Philadelphia

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dozens of Flyers fans gathered Saturday morning as the team unveiled a new statue at the sports complex, paying tribute to the Stanley Cup winning teams of the 70s.

This may not be the Flyers dream season at the moment, but owner Ed Snider says this new statue keeps the memories of the 1974 and 75 Stanley Cups champions alive (see related story).

"We had a contest for naming it. It's going to be 'Walk Together Forever'"

Seven feet, 400 pounds of bronze, portraying Flyers greats Bernie Parent and Bob Clarke hoisting hockey's biggest prize. The former Captain says lifting the cup was easy but winning it was extremely hard.

"Our families and the fans in Philadelphia were a huge part of us winning. And behalf of all the players, this statue represents the Stanley Cup champions."

The statue stands fittingly outside of Broad Street Bullies Pub at Xfinity Live!
