Flyers Statue Honors '74, '75 Stanley Cup Champions
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new statue, being unveiled Saturday at the sports complex, pays tribute to the Flyers Stanley Cup teams of the '70s.
The team that will Walk Together Forever is immortalized in bronze, with a seven-foot statue depicting 1974 and 1975 Flyers captain Bob Clarke and goalie Bernie Parent hoisting the Stanley Cup.
"This was really Ed Snider's dream and his vision to honor the champions. And so it was Ed Snider's that called Bob Clarke and Bernie Parent, and said, 'We're going to honor you and the team forever,'" says Comcast-Spectacor spokesman Ike Richman.
The statue commemorating the back-to-back cup champions is at the corner of 11th and Pattison outside Xfinity Live, which is marking its one-year anniversary.
