Flyers Return to the Ice Tonight in Buffalo
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Flyers are on the road tonight, visiting the Buffalo Sabres. The Orange and Black haven't played since Saturday night, when they beat Carolina, 5-1, at the Wells Fargo Center (see related story).
Philadelphia is a bit beat-up heading into this one. Defenseman Chris Pronger and forwards Danny Briere and Matt Read are all out with injuries.
This is the first of four meetings this season between the two teams who enjoy similar records. The Flyers are 6-4-1, while Buffalo is 6-4. Last season they split four matchups during the regular season, but it was the Flyers who came through in the big spot, eliminating the Sabres in the first round of the playoffs in seven games.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sam Carchidi, the Flyers' beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, about the matchup and the rivalry between these two squads.
