Flyers' Playoff Schedule Set
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The NHL released the schedule for the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Sunday night -- and the Philadelphia Flyers will open their first round series with the Buffalo Sabres at home on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
The Flyers will also host game two on Saturday at 5 PM.
The series shifts to Buffalo for games three and four. Game three is set for Monday, April 18th at 7 PM, while the puck drops at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 20th.
If necessary, the two teams will return to Philadelphia for game five. That contest would take place on Friday, April 22nd at 7:30 PM.
If there is a game six, the Flyers and Sabres will skate in Buffalo on Sunday, April 24th at 3 PM.
The Flyers hold the home ice advantage in the event of a decisive game seven on Tuesday, April 26th. The starting time for that contest has yet to be determined.
The Flyers will take on the Sabres in a playoff series for the ninth time, which is the second most of any opponent the orange and black have faced in the postseason.
The Flyers are 5-3 against Buffalo in the playoffs. Their last meeting was in 2006, when the Sabres eliminated the Flyers in six games in the first round.
The Sabres have won three of the last four series between the clubs dating back to 1998.
The two teams split the season series this year, each squad winning once at home and once on the opponent's home ice. The Flyers claimed the first two meetings. The Sabres took the last pair, most recently on Friday night when they beat the Flyers 4-3 in overtime to secure a spot in playoffs.
NOTE: All game times are EST.
