Flyers Open Regular Season Tonight In LA
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers are out in California as tonight they open their regular season in Los Angeles against the Kings.
The Orange and Black are in their second season with Dave Hakstol behind the bench. They made the playoffs in his first year as head coach, going 41-27-14 (96 points), and losing in the first round to Washington in six games.

As far as new faces, a couple of 19-year-old top prospects have made the team and could have a significant impact. Ivan Provorov is a defenseman and Travis Konecny is a forward, both were first-round picks of the Flyers in 2015 (Provorov #7 overall, Konecny #24). They join second-year defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and veteran forwards Jake Voracek, Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds as key players this season.
Two familiar faces will man the net this season as both Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth return, with both expecting to see a lot of work this year.
Los Angeles already has a regular season game under its belt. On Wednesday, the Kings lost on the road to San Jose, 2-1.
Back-to-back road games to start things off this season, the Kings tonight and then tomorrow night the Flyers will visit Arizona.
