Flyers Look To Stay Hot Vs. Sabres Tonight
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers Will be on home ice once again tonight as they welcome the Buffalo Sabres to the Center.
The Orange and Black are in the midst of stretch where they play six of seven games at the Center. So far the Flyers have won four of five during this stretch, including Saturday night when they beat the New York Rangers in South Philadelphia, 3-2, in a shootout. Overall, the Flyers are off to a 4-2-1 start and with nine points, they are tied for fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.
Buffalo is 2-6-0 here in the early going. They also last played on Saturday night when they lost at home to the New Jersey Devils, 4-3. The Sabres have played just two road games so far this season, losing them both.
One visiting player to keep an eye on tonight is Buffalo center Jack Eichel. The 18-year-old Boston University product was the #2 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. He is tied for the team lead with three goals.
This will be the first of three match-ups between these two teams this season. The second one will be Friday in Buffalo. Last season, the Flyers went 2-0-1 against the Sabres.
Prior to tonight's game, the Flyers will honor recently retired forward Danny Briere's long NHL career.
