Flyers Look To Continue Surge Against Sabres

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers look to continue their recent run of strong play on Thursday night as they welcome the Buffalo Sabres to South Philadelphia.

Since a 1-7 start, the Flyers have gone 7-3-2 and while they are still in last (eighth) place in the Metropolitan Division, they are just four points out of third. The Flyers have picked up at least a point in each of their last five games. Last time out they beat the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, 5-2.

Ray Emery will get the start in net against the Sabres. It will be his first appearance between the pipes since November 13th when he beat the Penguins in Pittsburgh, 2-1. Overall on the season, Emery is 2-3 in six games with a 2.82 GAA.

It has been a real struggle for Buffalo this season. In fact, the Sabres have the fewest points in the NHL, just 11, thanks to a 5-17-1 record.

This will be the first match-up between these two teams this season.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Dave Isaac of the Courier Post to get his thoughts on this match-up.
