Flyers Fans Fuel Philly Stereotype With Embarrassing Display During Loss To Caps

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers lost to the Capitals on Monday night and now stand just one loss away from a first round sweep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With the 6-1 loss, frustrations mounted in the stands and Flyers fans took a step toward confirming some of the typical stereotypes levied against Philadelphia fans.
Following a 5-minute major and game misconduct for Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, for a check from behind delivered to Dmitry Orlov, Flyers fans let their frustration out by tossing bracelets onto the ice.
Those bracelets were given out to Flyers fans pregame to light up in honor of the team's founder, Ed Snider, who recently passed away. It appears that some Flyers fans were not too concerned with keeping those bracelets as a souvenir.
In the above video, the PA announced can be heard urging the Flyers faithful to have some class.
Even Wayne Simmonds stood on the ice, next to Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin, and pleaded with fans to stop.
The Flyers were threatened with a delay of game penalty if the behavior continued from the fans. The warning was followed through on as the Flyers received a delay of game when more bracelets rained down after an Ovechkin goal.
The Flyers' PA announcer Lou Nolan was not pleased with the fans at that point.
Fans Tuesday morning are upset because the bracelets were also used as a tribute to Snider.
"That was Ed's game last night I felt like. It was just rude, like come on Philadelphia."
"Why do we in Philadelphia continually try to find ways to embarrass ourselves."
The Flyers are now on the brink of elimination and certain Flyers fans will have to ask themselves if their behavior Monday night really made them feel any better.
