Flyers: Briere Added to All-Star Roster
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It turns out that Claude Giroux won't be the only Flyers player on the ice in Raleigh after all (see previous story).
Forward Danny Briere (above) was named to the roster on Wednesday for the January 30th All-Star Game in North Carolina. He will replace Calgary's Jerome Iginla, who is bowing out for personal reasons.
Briere is the Flyers' leader in goals (24) and points (41). He was also one of the biggest snubs when the original All-Star roster was announced.
This is Briere's 13th NHL season, and it's his second All-Star nod. His first appearance came in the 2007 game in Dallas.
All he did in that game was tally five points and earn MVP honors.
The Flyers are off until Thursday night, when they will host Ottawa.
