Flyers D T.J. Brennan To Agent: 'Only Place I Want To Go Is Philly'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- T.J. Brennan is coming home.

Brennan, a 27-year-old defenseman and Moorestown, New Jersey native, was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Brennan, the 31st overall pick in 2007, played in just seven NHL games over the past two seasons for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brennan feels he can re-boot his career in Philly.

"After this season in Toronto, a team with a lot of internalization," Brenner told the 94WIP Morning Show on Thursday. "A team that, at the end of the day, it was best to come home and be surrounded by family which was one of my priorities that I take obviously throughout my life. Not only will it help me become a better person and a better human being, but through that kind of guidelines it will obviously help my hockey career as well."

Brennan says, deep down, the only team he wanted to sign with was the Flyers.

"I kind of told that to my agent and I asked him him if he could just approach Philly," Brennan said. "Honestly, I said, 'Don't think about any other teams. Hear offers, but the only place I wanted to go was Philadelphia because I think that's what is best for me right now.'

"So we started that process up and luckily they were interested as well. So, to get something worked out was really amazing. I don't want to say a dream come true because nothing is happening yet. I think I'm just at the base of the mountain because there's a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm really, really excited about the opportunity that lies ahead."
