Flugtag, Or Flying Day, Takes Place On Delaware River
By David Madden
CAMDEN, N. J. (CBS) - Thousands are expected to line the Delaware River to watch a Flugtag competition Saturday.
Sounds like fun, but there are some concerns over crowd control.
Flugtag is German for "flying day". Let's just say the sponsors of this event encourage participants to come up with gliders that are bizarre that will be launched from a Camden dock over the river.
Enter the DRPA and CEO John Matheussen who remembers the last event a couple years ago.
"Most of them did a fairly quick, direct line down to the water but everyone had fun and I'm looking forward to this year's event as well," says Matheussen.
But if you're going you really might want to consider public transit given parking, particularly on the Camden side, will be at a premium.
It's a short walk from PATCO stations. The River Ferry is also an option. Walkways on both sides on the Ben Franklin Bridge will be open.
If you're standing on the south side to get a better view…police will make sure you leave a path open and you keep the booze at home.
