Flight From Brussels To Phila. Canceled After Deadly Explosions

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A flight from Brussels to Philadelphia has been canceled following the deadly attacks.

American Airlines Flight 751 was set to leave Brussels Airport at 9:40 a.m. Central European Time and arrive at Philadelphia International Airport at 1:40 this afternoon.

According to CBS News, two loud explosions rocked the main airport terminal in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, a day after authorities said a new suspect in the Nov. 13, 2015 Paris terror attacks -- possibly the bomb-maker -- was likely loose in the city.

Belgium's public broadcaster RTBF said at least one suicide bomber was behind the explosions at the airport. Dozens of people are now believed to have been killed in the explosions, U.S. official says

In a statement, American Airlines says all of their employees are accounted for with no reported injuries:

'American Airlines is taking care of our employees and customers in Brussels after this morning's events. At this time, there are no reported injuries to our employees. American Airlines check-in operates at Row 8 of the departure hall, and the explosions did not occur at Row 8.

American Airlines flight 751 from Brussels to Philadelphia has been canceled for today. When operations at the Brussels airport resume, we will reaccommodate our customers.

We have issued a travel policy for customers with reservations to Brussels who wish to change their itineraries.

Customers with flights to or from Brussels may call our reservations desk at +1-800-679-8215 to get the latest information. In Belgium, customers may call (+32) 070 300 300.'

There is no word on the conditions or whereabouts of their passengers set to travel to Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia to Dallas leg of the flight is still scheduled to leave this afternoon.

As for airport security, a city police official says they're always on high alert and travelers may see more uniformed patrols, but there's no specific threat here connected to the Brussels attack.
