First Heat-Related Death Of Year Reported In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia city officials have reported the first heat-related death of 2013.
According to a spokesperson from the Philadelphia Health Department, a 57-year-old man was found dead inside his West Oak Lane home Thursday morning. They say there was a box fan in an open window and an air conditioner, but the unit was not in use.
Apparently, the man was last seen alive on Tuesday, said neighbors.
Officials say the cause of death was chronic obstructive lung disorder and heat exposure.
