PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Eight families were left homeless after a two-alarm fire inside a West Philadelphia apartment complex Thursday evening.
The fire broke out just before 7 p.m. inside a four-story apartment building on the 4500 block of Walnut Street. The blaze was placed under control in about an hour.
Red Cross officials, who have set up a comfort center to assist displaced residents, say all 18 units of the building were affected by the fire and evacuated.
Two residents and a firefighter were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
The Red Cross is sheltering 18 adults and five children.
