Kensington Fire Causes $1M In Damage To Antique Cars

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eighteen antique cars worth an estimated $1 million dollars were either damaged or destroyed in a warehouse fire in Kensington Wednesday morning.
The two-alarm fire started shortly before 9:30 a.m. inside a storage facility building that housed 20 garages and nearly 40 cars on Jasper Street and Westmoreland Street.
Firefighters battled intense smoke and towering flames, but they were able to place the fire under in control in about an hour.

Authorities say 18 antique cars were stored inside the building. Ed Flores owns four of the cars, including a 1966 Shelby that he says was worth $100,000. Flores estimates the total value of all 18 cars that were damaged to be nearly $1 million dollars.
"I got insurance on some of my cars, but not all of them," Flores said.
There were no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
