Fire Engulfs Abandoned School Building In North Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Firefighters are currently battling a massive fire that has engulfed an abandoned school building in North Philadelphia.
The fire started at about 1:30 p.m. inside the former Thomas Edison High School building at 7th Street and Lehigh Avenue.
The four-alarm fire swept through the building and smoke could be seen billowing for miles.
"Right now there are no injuries, we did have to make evacuations on the 8th Street side of the building of about 25 people," said Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers.
Eyewitnesses report seeing people going in and out of the building in recent weeks.

All of the residents that were evacuated have since been allowed back into their homes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
