Fire Danger Remains High Through Thursday
By Kate Bilo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A brush fire continues to burn at this hour in an uninhabited area of southern Cumberland County in New Jersey, and the fire crews will have their work cut out for them in battling the blaze as high winds continue. Fire danger will remain high right through the day on Thursday as winds will gust to 30mph once again - the combination of high winds and dry air will once again lead to favorable conditions for fires to spread, and a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10am-8pm (the name of a Red Flag Warning can be confusing, but it simply means that high fire danger conditions are in place).
WATCH: Kate's Weather Forecast
The winds finally subside late Thursday and we're in for a milder Friday, with highs approaching 70 - but another cool front Friday evening brings showers and thunderstorms to the area. This storm will depart early on Saturday, with perhaps a stray sprinkle in it's wake, but otherwise the upcoming weekend looks pleasant with highs in the 60's and 70's and a good deal of sunshine.
