Crews Respond To Gas Leak At Nether Providence Elementary School; Students Evacuated To Nearby Middle School

WALLINGFORD, Pa. (CBS)--According to Police, there was a gas leak this morning at the Nether Providence Elementary School on 410 Moore Road in Wallingford, Pennsylvania.
The leak was caused by a four inch gas main rupture.
There was a construction project underway at the school, but it is unsure if the gas leak is related.
The fire department has evacuated all students and staff to the middle school about a mile away.
PECO had to dig in front of the building to locate the shut-off valve and turn off the gas.
The smell of natural gas is still pervasive in the building.
Police Chief Splain says the building will have to be ventilated before school reopens.
Chief Splain reports the students and staff are all fine.
Morning kindergarten students can be picked up at Moore and Georgetown Roads. The rest of the students have been taken to Strath Haven MIddle School, and parents are being directed there to pick up their children.
The school is closed for the rest of the day. It is set to reopen tomorrow.
