RiverLink Ferry To Run The Weekend Of The Papal Visit
By Marcy Norton
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you want to come into Philadelphia from New Jersey while the Pope is in town, you don't have to walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge.
The RiverLink Ferry will not only be running, it's adding extra service.
The ferry will be operating from 7:30 a.m. until midnight on the Saturday and Sunday of the papal visit, and its adding extra trips on that Friday and Monday as well. Emma Freid-Cassorla of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, which operates the ferry, says you'll have to buy tickets online, in advance, for specific travel times.
"That guarantees you a spot, you know when to get there, you know approximately when you'll be getting on the boat," said Freid-Cassorla.
And the cost:
"The cost is a flat $7 each way," said Freid-Cassorla.
It's usually $7, round trip, but Fried-Cassorla says they raised the price to help pay for security and crowd control. Parking near the ferry will be tough, so she's recommending you take public transportation.
