Female Will Run Valley Forge Military Academy & College For 1st Time

RADNOR, Pa. (CBS) -- Valley Forge Military Academy and College has named its next president, for the first time a woman in its 85-year history.
But to hear Stacey Sauchuk, PhD, tell it, the first female thing is insignificant compared to her credentials.
"I'm a school psychologist by training, and then I've spent the last 15 years in higher education, where I was really responsible for the quality of eduction, developing new programs and that sort of thing," she notes.
Sauchuk officially takes the reins on June 1st, but begins with a search for her number two, the school commandant.
"I'm really happy to be able to select someone that I know will work well with me and that will be the person that really emphasized the military model," she tells KYW Newsradio.
Which, she says, is needed even more today, to train the next generation of leaders.
Sauchuk says she doesn't expect it to be much of an issue: a woman in charge both at the co-ed college and all-male academy.
