Female Pilots In Pottstown Want To Share The Air And Love Of Flying With Pennies-A-Pound Event

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A group of local female pilots is giving the public the chance to share the love of flying with a weekend of airplane rides.

The 99's is an international organization of women pilots that promotes advancement of flying through education and scholarships. For the past 30 years, the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter has held their annual Pennies-a-Pound flying event so people can learn about aviation in their own backyards.

"We love to share our passion around flying with everyone," Chapter Chairperson Mary Ellen Morris said. "And who knows, maybe someone taking a ride with us will be inspired to pursue a career or a hobby in the sky."

Weather permitting, those interested can fly with a trained pilot at 15-cents per passenger pound Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Field Airport in Pottstown.
