Federal Disaster Declaration In Place For 3 South Jersey Counties Ravaged By Summer Storms

SOUTH JERSEY (CBS) - A federal disaster declaration is now in place for three South Jersey counties ravaged by summer storms on June 30th.
The presidential order allows for aid to repair damage done to roads, bridges and other public infrastructure in Salem, Cumberland and Atlantic Counties by straight line winds and heavy rains that left two people dead. Damage estimates on that front are pegged at about $17 million.
So where does that leave homeowners in need? Waiting - for now, according to Blll Vogel, an official with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"It is under review and there could be the possibility that individual assistance will be declared at some point in time."
It should be noted that approving public help before private help is not unusual. So keep records of any repairs you've been doing just in case.
