PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating the death of a father who was robbed and shot after just getting back to his Philadelphia home last night.
The 28-year-old man died at the hospital hours after he was shot around 10:30 last night, according to police.
His family cannot believe he's gone.
"The best father. Always working. He was a barber. Always took care of her always took care of all of us."
The victim's family tells Eyewitness News he had taken his one-year-old son to the movies Sunday night.
After later leaving his wife and son at home, they say he stepped back out, and he and his wife had a heartbreaking final conversation.
"She calls him and tells him to come home. 'I heard two shots.' He says it was me. I'm on the ground."
Police were called to the 5100 block of F Street to find him shot at least four times in the home's back driveway.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says, "Two males approached him. At least one of the males pulled a gun and announced a robbery and for some reason one of the perpetrators fired multiple shots."
Police took him to the hospital in critical condition, he later died.
The victim's family says they have no idea who would want to hurt him.
They say he was a hardworking barber who supported his family in the Dominican Republic.
"His mother lost her support, his brother, his sister. He supported all of them. The best ever. They took someone very important from us."
